However, Quinton De Kock proved to be the star of the show, playing a remarkable innings of 114 runs off 116 balls. This marked his 4th century in this World Cup, showcasing his incredible form.
His friend Van Der Dussen also delivered a wonderful performance, scoring 133 runs off 118 balls. David Miller also added a finishing touch by scoring 53 runs off only 30 balls, with this incredible batting South Africa posted a mammoth total of 358/3 in 50 overs.
From New Zealand’s bowling perspective, Tim Southee claimed 2 wickets and Trent Boult took 1 wicket.
Unfortunately for New Zealand, their second innings didn’t perform either. The batting lineup struggled to gain momentum. W Young managed to perform 30 off 37 and Glenn Philips contributed 60 off 50 balls. D Mitchell also added 24 runs for the team but the rest of the team found it difficult to make an impact.
New Zealand only managed to score 167/10 in 35.3 overs. South Africa’s dominant performance with the ball and bat secured them a wonderful victory.
In the bowling department of the South African team K Maharaj 4-wicket haul, while M Jenson took 3 wickets, and Coetzee contributed with 2 wickets.
