On his injury Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provided an injury update of Naseem Shah that he will not play cricket for three to four months due to shoulder injury; his medical consultants have suggested that he should undergo surgery. He suffered a shoulder injury during a match against India in the Asia Cup 2023 on 11 September. In the new Pakistan World Cup squad 2023 Hasan Ali will be replacing Naseem Shah.
