This summer, WWE SummerSlam will take place in Detroit, Michigan. Ford Field, where the Detroit Lions of the National Football League play, will host the event on Saturday, August 5. There are approximately 65,000 seats in the stadium.

Even though the 1993 edition of SummerSlam was held in the Detroit area (Auburn Hills, MI), this will be the first time that the city has hosted the event.

After Allegiant Stadium (Paradise, NV) in 2021 and Nissan Stadium (Nashville, TN) last year, SummerSlam will be held in a football stadium for the third time this year.

In 2007, WrestleMania 23 took place at Ford Field. One of the company’s biggest box office hits was that event, which featured the infamous Battle of the Billionaires between Vince McMahon and Donald Trump.

WrestleMania’s stadium’s era began with that event, which was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania III, the megaevent that brought a reported 93,173 fans to the Pontiac Silverdome and elevated the then-WWF to a new level of popularity.
